Fliss and Terry celebrate 32nd Anniversary of opening their doors at Barlings Barn!!!!

Exciting signs of early spring, reminiscences and counting blessings!

Signs of spring at last - yippee!  Snowdrops and crocus flowers have bravely poked their pretty noses through the lawn in spite of Storm Gertrude hurling gale force winds and torrential rain down onto their delicate little faces, but we are still smiling sitting cosily tucked inside the cottage.  We have been reminiscing about our opening day, 29th January 1984 (coincidentally Terry’s 31st birthday), which truly doesn’t seem that long ago.  Since then we have had the pleasure and privilege of hosting thousands of happy guests, (birthdays, anniversaries, hens, stags, family gatherings and friend’s re-unions) many of whom return frequently, as they are drawn to the tranquillity and Barlings’ ability to happily accommodate and entertain, all the ‘gang’.

Barlings has altered just a little to accommodate their desires.   We fell in love with our cottage and barn in 1982 and spent two years restoring the cottage, doing much of the restoration ourselves, and re-building the barn.  We are still deeply in love with Barlings, the gardens, the paddock, the bluebell wood and bubbling brooks, the play of sunlight and shade on wings of red kites catching thermals over the magnificent unspoilt hills and the sight of the peak of snow-capped mountain, Cader Idris.  We count our blessings and never take for granted the stunning area that we live in.

We look forward to sharing this ‘little slice of heaven’ with all our future guests for years to come.  Happy Anniversary dear Barlings!!!
