Approximately 4 miles after Meifod turn right onto A458 towards Foel and Mallyd. Turn left at Mallwyd on the A470 and after approximately 4 miles, left on the A470 at Cemmaes Road towards Llanbrynmair. Turn left in the village, just past Machinations (Café with big red dragon at roadside) and before the Wynnstay Arms pub.

From West Midlands, M54 to Telford, A5 through Shrewsbury, then A458 to Welshpool, then A483 onto Newtown bypass, then A489 to Caersws, right onto A470 towards Llanbrynmair (and Machynlleth) via Clatter, Carno, Talerrdig, Dolfach and then Llanbrynmair.

If you decide to use the M6 toll road, exit at T8, follow the signs for Wolverhampton and then join the M54 to Telford.

In good weather conditions a more scenic (and more reliable route in traffic) is M40, M42, M5 junction 6, A449 North towards Kidderminster, A4113 towards Leominster, then A443 continuing west. Then west again on A456 at Knighton on Teme, north on A49 at Wooferton towards Craven Arms. Just after Craven Arms turn left onto A489 through Churchstoke, Sarn and Kerry all the way to Newtown then as above.

From South Wales, take the A470 past  Merthyr Tydfil, then A40 towards Cheltenham, before rejoining the A470 via Llyswen, Builth Wells, Newbridge, Llanwrthwl, Rhayader, Llangurig, Llandinam, Caersws. Then left onto A470 towards Llanbrynmair (and Machynlleth) via Clatter, Carno, Talerrdig, Dolfach and then Llanbrynmair

PLEASE IGNORE YOUR SAT NAVS AND TOM TOMS ONCE YOU GET TO LLANBRYNMAIR - THEY TAKE YOU TO PANDY AND SAY YOU’VE ARRIVED WHEN YOU ARE STILL OVER A MILE AWAY FROM BARLINGS! HOWEVER, I UNDERSTAND GOOGLE MAPS TAKES YOU RIGHT TO OUR FRONT DOOR!
